a Creative Partnerships project

A short music video piece made in collaboration between Art, Drama and Music depatments at Challenge College, Bradford.

Working with 160 Year 7 pupils over two weeks to create a new short music video piece inspired by the issues raised in the West Yorkshire playhouse theatre production ‘Bollywood Jane'.

This is Creativity....This is Challenge College

A 60 second long ident film promoting and celebrating creativity in learning, launched with a detailed multimedia DVD review of the schools Creative Partnerships work.

“My class loved the ident, the majority have shown their families and all have only positive comments to make ... I think they are gutted because they would have really liked to take part in it.” Teaching Staff

The Cage, Huddersfield

Multimedia installation and performance by students based on real life stories collected from ex-child slaves living in the UK, using electronic media, music, dance, drama and visual arts.

Developed and presented as an Aim Higher project in Humberside in Autumn 2007.

An excerpt was shown as part of the Kirklees Holocaust Memorial Day event in January 2008. http://www.hmd.org.uk.

Dudey Movie

A new short film inspired by the ground-breaking ‘Bamforth shorts’ which were made in Holmfirth, West Yorkshire at the dawn of the movie era.

Over a period of several months we worked with a group of local teenagers to research and produce a video film developing the film making ideas pioneered over 100 years ago. Together we made an original short film premiered at a grand launch event and screening.

The movie has many features in common with the early silent movies that were our inspiration: humour, clear-cut plot lines, physical comedy, simple camera tricks, cross-dressing - and local talent.

Where can I see it?

An interactive touring display Cabinet housed in a remodelled former arcade machine shows the movie on the press of a button. It tours to an evolving range of youth clubs, schools, libraries and others venues, and is currently at Cleckheaton Library in West Yorkshire.
A DVD package featuring the movie and other informative video from the project - Bamforths and the early film making, more project details and some of our test films - is now available, please contact us for more details.

Creative Partnerships, West Yorkshire

Developing and producing a range of creative projects at Challenge College in Manningham, Bradford and also now at Parkside School arts college, Cullingworth, Bradford aimed at promoting creative learning and developing the theme of communication within the school and the local community.

Example projects include:

Challenge Ident: Producing a taster, celebration and confirmation of creativity at Challenge College which will be launched with an informative DVD in June/July 2008.

GTR-BKR: a Humanities Department project to explore life and land use along the Bradford to Keswick trade route. Inspired by the journey made by photographer Tim Smith and writer Irna Quereshi along the Grand Trunk Road, a trade route running through India, Pakistan and Afghanistan. Created with Irna, Tim and designer Tim Copsey.

The Bradford to Keswick road was chosen as it mirrors the Grand Trunk Road route in a number of ways; a road of some antiquity, it is linked to the development and heritage of the settlements along its way, reflecting the diversity of the land and the lives of the people. 2007.
