WAP is trio of experience participatory arts organisations with shared resources but separate practice all based at The Watershed - a refurbished weaving mill now refurbished as a fully accessible participatory arts space.
WAP are grateful for the support of key funders who help it to deliver much of its work:
Arts Council England
WAP is a one of 696 National Portfolio Organisations across the country helping to deliver 'Great Art For Everyone'.
WAP is one of 11 Creative Partner organisations in Kirklees that receive annual investment from our local authority - using the arts to help reduce inequalities, build healthy communities and ensure young people throughout Kirklees are able to develop creative skills and enjoy the arts.
Funding the Arts
We believe that the arts and creativity are fundamental to both individuals and neighbourhoods; the arts are not just decorative tinsel but perhaps the golden thread of a health society.
Collective funding is key to the arts being able to reach more people and we are grateful to the continued support, absolutely tiny in national terms but fundamental to the viability of this work and helping lever in significant additional funding. Apparently the average family spends £60 a week on recreation; Public art subsidy costs just 17p.
